i havent done enough reading on this, i know theres lots of radical feminist writing thats been done on the subject but i think itd be interesting to write my thoughts about it before reasearching it at all lol. and ill see how i feel after it.
i think being a radical feminist would probably classify you as schizophrenic or paranoid or whatever. like, i think if i honestly told my psychiatrist about how i feel about men/the world, she would diagnose me with schizophrenia. same with all radfems i think.
it reminds me of stuff ive read about psychiatry being rooted in racism along with misogyny. i read that schizophrenia originated in antiblack racism or was at least mostly applied to black people in the past. it was used to medicalize(?) black people who were aware of their humanity. like slaves who wanted freedom- i think there was a specific diagniosis for these people, that said they had a disease that made them want to be free. and black people after that and still up until now. if they understood the way white supremacy was killing them and their people, they would be deemed insane pretty much.
for women, it was basically the same thing. (again, im ignorant af and i dont have the sources for any of these right now so…..,,,)
but yeah. people dismiss the folks who say that ‘insane people are actually just seeing stuff that is there but we cant see’ and stuff like that, but i think i believe that. because a lot of them arent insane at all. theyre literally just observing reality. im not saying this about the people who hallucinate or think the cia is after them, im talking about the people who know what theyre talking about, i guess. ok. yeah. bye.
Mar ’15 edit:
yo and when i first wrote this i didnt even think about the public opinion of feminism/feminists which is mostly “they are crazy insane mentally ill”
